The Royal Challengers Bangalore’s home turf, the Chinnaswamy Stadium has been witness to some fantastic catches this season with Trent Boult of the Delhi Daredevils kicking off things with a one handed stunner at the boundary.
On Thursday evening, apart from AB de Villiers during the second innings of the match, Sunrisers Hyderabad’s spinner Rashid Khan added his name to the list of outstanding catches when he took a one-handed catch to dismiss New Zealand all-rounder Colin de Grandhomme for 40 of the bowling of Siddarth Kaul.
Fielding at deep mid-wicket in the final over of the innings, Khan was alert and as he plucked de Grandhomme’s pull shot out of thin air to send him packing when the score read 210/5. The Royal Challengers Bangalore who had another four deliveries to go in the innings managed to score only eight as their innings was completed for 218/6.
Earlier in the tournament, another New Zealander, Trent Boult, was in the eye of the storm, when he took a superb acrobatic one-handed catch while falling backwards inches away from the boundary ropes to dismiss the RCB captain Virat Kohli for 30.
Fielding deep at the square leg boundary, Boult caught Virat Kohli’s perfectly timed shot with one hand as he dove backwards and stopped just inches before the boundary line. So good was the catch, that even Kohli, who was confident that he had just clobbered another maximum, could not believe what he had seen before walking off shell shocked.
