New Delhi: Former Indian captain and senior pacewoman Jhulan Goswami has been ruled out of the T20I series against South Africa Women. Goswami, who recently became the first woman to take 200 wickets in ODIs has suffered a heel injury and underwent an MRI scan on Monday, according to a BCCI press release.
The release further stated that BCCI’s medical team has asked the veteran cricketer to take rest for a couple of weeks so that she doesn’t aggravate her injury.
“The BCCI Medical Team in consultation with a local doctor felt that she needs rest for a couple of weeks to avoid any further impact on the bone. Upon her return, Ms Goswami will consult a foot expert and will undergo her rehab process at the NCA in Bengaluru,” the official release stated.
Goswami is a veteran of 60 T20 internationals and is the third highest capped woman cricketer in ODIs, having represented India in 166 matches. She has 200 wickets and 1003 runs to her credit in ODIs. She is also India’s highest wicket-taker in T20Is with 50 scalps to her name till date.
