India’s top order led by Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli have emerged as the biggest match winners for the visitors in the ongoing series against South Africa.
Both of them are the only Indian batsmen to have so far accumulated 100+ runs this series.
A look at the run-scorers for India shows the vast disparity.
Let’s do a comparative table between Kohli & Dhawan & the rest:
Dhawan & Kohli have scored 80.58% of India’s runs off the bat this ODI series.
o They have scored 85.71% of India’s fifty-plus scores this series (6 out of 7).
o They have hit more than three-quarters (75.25% or 76/101) of India’s boundaries this series.
o Their combined strike rate is 27.70% better than the rest this series.
o They are hitting a boundary 34.22% quicker than the rest this series.
• The Dhawan-Kohli partnership has scaled new heights this series. They have established a new record for the most partnership runs put on by a pair against SA in SA this series. The scary thing for SA is that there are two more ODIs still left.
After winning the first three games in the ODI series against South Africa, Team India was handed a shock defeat in the fourth ODI at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg. With rain playing spoilsport, South Africa seized the moment to win the game by 5 wickets. And even as the teams gear up to play the fifth ODI at St. George’s Park in Port Elizabeth, Virat Kohli and his boys have their task cut-out. India has played four ODIs against South Africa on this ground and is yet to register a win at the venue.
